We are coming near the end of our vacation. A few more days visiting Aunt Louise in Cercay and then it will be time to go home. Follow this link for the last few pictures of out stay at Aunt Louise's.

Next day was much more quiet. Stephanie went to a fleamarket at Porte de Clignancourt with Stephen. Nathan went to the Champs Elysees where the final lap of the Tour de France would finish that afternoon. Diederik and Jordan went on a walk and took the boatbus along the Seine. It gets you past a lot of the sites and you can hop on and off if you like (but we didn't).
That late afternoon we went to Versailles. We never went into the palace. We really came for the evening light and music show. So when we arrived we looked around a little in the front of the palace, but then we went to dinner.
Once we were in Paris, we checked into our hotel which was very conveniently located in the Quartier Latin. It was within easy walking distance of the Notra dame. So that is where we went that afternoon.
2009 trip to Netherlands and France
part 3

In July we went to Europe to visit Diederik's family in the Netherlands and France. We also took time for some beach time and to see a few things in Paris. This is part 3 of the report.

We traveled to Paris in a Bullet Train. These high speed trains are one of the great things of traveling in Europe. They are about twice as fast as cars and that is if you don't encounter construction or accident delays. The picture shows Jordan having lunch on the train.

Of course there was some time for a snack too.
The next morning Stephanie and Stephen went to the Louvre and the antique stores close by. These are really nice antique stores and there was nothing for sale in our budget range.
Diederik, Nathan, and Jordan went to the Eiffel Tower, where they stood in line for over an hour to get on. There was all kinds of entertainment. People making music or dancing for tips. And the police playing cat and mouse with a lot of illegal street vendors.

After dinner we went into the gardens while it was still light to look around.
But once it started to get dark, the night show of music and lights, in coordination with the fountains started. It all ended with a fireworks display.

After the boatbus tour, Diederik and Jordan had lunch at an italian restaurant that was right along the route of the Tour de France. So they eat lunch nand eventually watched the riders come by. It was all over in a fraction of a minute.
