I guess the grand opening is on hold and the decision was made to go home. So that is what happened the next day.

The next day we went out to lunch in Loches, another place close by also with a massive
fortificantion
.
From there we drove to Chinon where the castle is build by the father of Richard the Lionheard. This is a real castle in that it is in the first place a fortification. Not like most castles in this part of the world that are really palaces.
The next day we made a little road trip to Crissay sur Manse. This little village is called one of the ptettiest in France. It was very nice and quiet. The castle is a ruin (actually it was never completed or inhabited). There were a few small roads with lots of flowers and even a few fruit trees.
2009 trip to Netherlands and France
part 4

In July we went to Europe to visit Diederik's family in the Netherlands and France. We also took time for some beach time and to see a few things in Paris. This is part 4 of the report.

The last few days of our vacation we spend at Aunt Louise's house in Cercay, a tiny village about 20 miles south of Tours, which in turn is 120 miles south of Paris.
In the area where where Aunt Louise lives, they grow a lot of wheat and sunflowers. You can get some idea of the size of the fields and of the actual flowers.
First a family picture and then one of Stephanie, Diederik, Aunt Louise, and her friend Hans.

Nathan is clearly visible, you can see Stephen's head and also Jordan's hands.

Right in front of the restaurant was a merry go round where Jordan had lots of fun capturing the flag and getting free rides.
After lunch we went walking trhough the village and of course ended up buying more stuff. By now Stephanie had bought so much stuff during our vacation that we either needed extra suitcases or ...............
